Following the summer shutdown, the city’s favourite budget-friendly family-fun destination has announced exactly when it will return for its milestone 30th season.
With loads of viral food stalls, fun rides and pavilions celebrating the rich cultural diversity of Dubai, it’s easy to see why it’s become such a beloved day out.
Global Villlage will officially reopen on Wednesday October 15 and will run all the way until Sunday May 10.
And with next season being the 30th at Global Village, we can expect it to be bigger and bolder than ever before.
On the day of the grand reopening, expect lots of eye-catching celebrations including a parade, fireworks and skydivers.
The Parade of the World will kick off celebrations with Retumbar street drummers, and representatives from all the pavilions.
There will be a drone and pyrotechnic show lighting up the night sky with a huge ’30’ glowing in the sky to mark the milestone season.
Wing-suited skydivers will then soar through the light display – and leave trails of fire and light behind them.
You can also expect cultural and stage performances and a stunning laser show at Dragon Lake.
At 9pm, 600 drones will return to unveil welcome messages and then visitors will be treated to the first fireworks display of the season.
Global Village celebrates the rich cultural melting pot of Dubai with pavilions dedicated to the populations that make the emirate such a special place to live.
In season 29, there were 30 pavilions representing 90 different cultures. With a landmark anniversary coming up, we can expect new additions.
Fireworks displays were held on the final three nights of season 29 to celebrate the occasion.
In addition to the pavilions, there are lots of fun rides and carnival attractions in addition to shows and concerts by big international artists all throughout the season.
Global Village will also celebrate 20 years since it moved to the 17.2 million square foot area at Dubailand in 2005.
The multi-cultural family day out had moved around the emirate multiple times with it previously being based at Oud Metha, Dubai Festival City and Dubai Creek.
It started life with rather humble beginnings in a car park across the road from the Dubai Municipality building in Dubai Creek.
Initially a pop-up as part of the long-running Dubai Shopping Festival, Global Village has grown into an attraction loved by residents and tourists alike.
