A Disney theme park is officially landing in the capital so your next question will probably be: when will we know Disney’s Abu Dhabi opening date?

The exciting theme park news was shared by Miral and The Walt Disney Company in a joint announcement, where it was confirmed that Abu Dhabi will be the location of the seventh Disney theme park in the world.

While an opening date for the Disney theme park is far from being announced, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney’s Experiences theme park segment, has given us a rough timeline.

He told Reuters that given the scale of the project, it could take a year or two to design, plus four to six years to build.

So best case scenario: one year to design plus four years to build – five years in total, which sets the opening date to 2030.

However, if things take longer to design and build, we could be looking at 2032.

For now, the park has started to be imagined (yes, they’re called the Imagineering team for a reason) by the professionals.

But the wait will totally be worth it. The new resort will be fully developed and built by Miral, while the Disney teams will lead creative design, attraction development and operational oversight to provide a world-class guest experience.

And it sounds like they will be really pushing the boundaries to make the Abu Dhabi theme park extraordinary.

Speaking of the concept that Disney will bring to the UAE, D’Amaro said: “The concept for this resort will push the boundaries of theme park design, showcasing groundbreaking technology and visionary architecture, including a modern castle unlike anything we’ve ever created.

“This project, together with our ambitious expansion plans in Florida and California, will create thousands of new jobs in the US as we enter into a new era of expansion.”
