An atmospheric depression is currently situated in the southern Arabian Sea, in proximity to the western Indian coast, as indicated by the National Centre for Meteorology (NCM).

It is expected that this depression would intensify into a tropical cyclone, subsequently traversing the central Arabian Sea on Monday and Tuesday, 14 and 15 October, the NCM added.

The NCM indicated that the precision of data regarding the intensity and trajectory of the state in question improves with the passage of time. It was further observed that there are two potential courses of action for the anticipated tropical depression, namely: The first potential trajectory would see the system moving in a westerly direction towards the centre of the Arabian Sea, subsequently making its way towards the central Omani coastline. The second potential trajectory would see the system moving in a westerly-southwesterly direction towards the centre of the Arabian Sea, subsequently making its way towards Socotra.

Furthermore, the NCM noted that tropical situations are characterised by a multitude of abrupt and unexpected changes. Consequently, the Centre is engaged in continuous monitoring of the situation and dissemination of updates in a prompt and efficient manner.

The NCM has confirmed that it is monitoring the situation continuously and is providing the latest updates. It has also appealed for the public to adhere to the instructions set out in the bulletins and reports issued by the Centre, and to refrain from circulating rumours.
