Launched in May 2019, the UAE Golden Visa programme aimed to attract investors, entrepreneurs, specialised talent, researchers, and outstanding students. Over time, it has been expanded to include various categories of professionals and investors contributing to the country’s development.

The long-term residency offers several benefits, including multiple entry permits and the ability to sponsor dependents. It allows expats to live, work, and invest in the UAE with ease, without the hassle of frequent visa renewal and provides more stability.

However, despite the attractive conditions, many visa applications are rejected, and one of the main reasons for refusal is a short period of employment with the same company. Immigration services emphasize that in order to successfully obtain a visa, it is necessary to have at least two years of work experience in one organization. This requirement has become mandatory under the new rules.

In addition, there are many other reasons why applications can be rejected. One of the common ones is the incorrect indication of the job title. If the job title does not meet the requirements for obtaining a “golden” visa, this can be grounds for refusal. It is also important that the applicant has a legalized diploma, as the lack of one can also lead to refusal.

Another reason can be the discrepancy between the salary and the criteria. If the salary is not clearly indicated on the bank statements, this can raise doubts with the immigration services. Employers should transfer salaries through the WPS system or clearly indicate the purpose of the bank transfer as “salary” to avoid misunderstandings.

Incomplete or incorrectly certified documents can also be a reason for refusal. The qualification must be properly certified and legalized, and undergo an equivalence procedure. If there are discrepancies in the documents provided, for example between salary transfers and an official employment contract, this may lead to a refusal.

Immigration status issues can also be a serious obstacle: for example, if the applicant has overstayed their visa or has unpaid fines. In addition, applicants must demonstrate financial stability and sufficient funds to support themselves and their dependents.

A criminal record or being under surveillance by law enforcement agencies can also lead to a visa refusal, as can the lack of health insurance for themselves and their family members.
