The Dubai Mall, the world's most popular shopping mall, has opened a new area, The District, with 65 new branded stores and restaurants located next to the Dubai Ice Rink.
These include Drop, Joud Coffee, Home Bakery Kitchen, Klay by Karak House, a contemporary Arabic restaurant, and other trendy spots. Some of the coffee shops are open during Ramadan.
The Dubai Mall currently houses over 1,200 stores and boutiques, including two leading department stores in Galeries Lafayette and Bloomingdale's, as well as over 200 cafes and restaurants.
In 2024, the mall welcomed over 111 million visitors, beating the record set in 2023, when the number of visitors reached 105 million.
In June 2024, Emaar Properties announced a Dh1.5 billion (US$400 million) expansion of its flagship Dubai Mall. The expansion will add 240 new stores, boutiques, restaurants and cafes to the iconic mall. The project will attract new visitors and expand the range of products on offer.
The expansion will also help the mall remain at the forefront of global innovation and culture, while further cementing Dubai’s status as a leading global tourism destination. Opened in 2008, the Dubai Mall is one of the largest shopping malls in the world, spanning over 1.2 million square metres.
Some of its attractions include the Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, a 24-screen Reel Cinema, KidZania Dubai, Play DXB, Dubai Ice Rink, Ekart and Zabeel Sports.
