A grant of Dh27 million will be disbursed to fishermen in Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, announced on Thursday.

The grant aims at boosting fishermen who carry out traditional artisanal fishing , thereby contributing to sustainable operations and increasing the emirate's fish stock.

The grant will be disbursed through coordination between the Dubai Environment and Climate Change Authority and the Dubai Fishermen's Cooperative Society.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s winter camping season kicked off on October 21 and will run until the end of April 2025. Applications for campsite permits can be made through the Dubai Municipality website, the Dubai Now app and the Dubai Building Permit System.

Permit holders can set up campsites in designated areas, subject to safety regulations and restrictions on activities limited to camping and family activities. Campsites must be fenced and no unauthorised use or construction outside the permitted boundaries is permitted.

Campsites are prohibited from setting off fireworks, complying with public health and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness, and ensuring fire safety measures, including the mandatory use of fire extinguishers. In addition, a speed limit of 20 km/h and a ban on the use of loudspeakers are in effect in the campsite area.
