Abu Dhabi has amended its toll gate hours for Ramadan.

Motorists will be charged from 8am to 10am and again from 2pm to 4pm between Saturday and Thursday, while no fees will be levied on Fridays.

Outside of the holy month, the toll gates operate from 7am to 9am and again from 5pm to 7pm.

Drivers are charged Dh4 every time they pass under a gate, up to a daily cap of Dh16.

The change was confirmed by the Integrated Transport Centre, which regulates public transport and parking in Abu Dhabi.

Mawaqif parking fees in the emirate will apply as normal from 8am to midnight from Saturday to Thursday.

Abu Dhabi city bus services will operate from 5am to 1am, while Abu Dhabi suburb services will operate from 5am to midnight. Bus services will stop during iftar.

The Abu Dhabi toll gate system was activated in January last year.

Four gates were built at the entrances to Abu Dhabi island on Sheikh Zayed Bridge, Sheikh Khalifa Bridge, Maqtaa Bridge, and Mussaffah Bridge.

They had been planned to launch earlier than 2021 but transport authorities waived the fees at the height of the Covid-19 pandemic to ease the financial pressure caused by crisis.
