A new Dhs1,000 note will come into circulation in the UAE soon

With most places being cashless in Dubai, when you have a few notes in your possession you cannot help feeling flush.

And soon, if you are fond of using paper money when handing over dosh for goods then you will want to look out for a new addition to the cash line-up here in the UAE as there will be a new banknote in town.

Planned to come into circulation early next year, the new note is made of polymer and boasts special security features, according to the Central Bank.

There is no need to spend the Dhs1,000 notes you currently have in a rush as they will continue to stay in circulation alongside the new money.

As for the design, the brand-new note features the image of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

A model of a space shuttle is also seen, highlighting the UAE’s pioneering role with space exploration.

This messaging is personified with the words “Emirates Mission to Explore Mars – the Hope Probe” featuring on the banknote.

More space-themed nods include an image of an astronaut added as a security mark that appears on both sides of the banknote.

As for the back of the new note, the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant in Abu Dhabi on the reverse stars which is to highlight the UAE’s focus on reducing carbon emissions.
