The UAE has advised its nationals and residents against travelling to Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and South Sudan unless absolutely necessary, as authorities continue to monitor developments related to Ebola virus disease (EVD) and reinforce national preparedness measures.

The travel advisory was issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), while the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) confirmed they are closely reviewing regional and international developments linked to the Ebola virus.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the advisory comes “in light of the evolving public health situation related to Ebola virus disease (EVD)”.

The Ministry advised UAE nationals and residents against travelling to the Republic of Uganda, the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Republic of South Sudan unless absolutely necessary.

As part of the UAE’s efforts to safeguard citizens abroad, the Ministry stressed the importance of complying with all travel advisories and guidance it issues.

UAE nationals currently present in the affected countries were urged to exercise the utmost caution, follow all health and safety instructions issued by local authorities, register with the Twajudi service and contact the Ministry in emergencies through the dedicated number for UAE nationals abroad: +97180024.

Separately, NCEMA and the Ministry of Health and Prevention said the UAE has reviewed the latest regional and international developments relating to the Ebola virus as part of ongoing efforts to maintain a high level of public health preparedness and protect community safety.

The review took place during a coordination meeting chaired by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, in coordination with NCEMA and attended by relevant government entities and strategic partners.

According to the authorities, the meeting focused on current epidemiological developments and the UAE’s preparedness measures.

Officials confirmed that the public health situation in the United Arab Emirates remains stable and said the country’s health preparedness and response arrangements remain active and effective.

The authorities said the review formed part of the UAE’s continuing commitment to strengthening readiness, monitoring international developments and maintaining robust public health protection measures.

The statement from NCEMA and the Ministry of Health and Prevention emphasised that the UAE continues to monitor Ebola-related developments while maintaining preparedness and response capabilities.

Authorities reiterated that existing health response mechanisms remain in place and operational, with coordination continuing across relevant government entities and strategic partners.

The latest measures reflect the country’s ongoing focus on public health preparedness while ensuring the safety and wellbeing of citizens and residents both within the country and abroad.
