Preparing for New Year’s Eve? Well, one thing that you need to think about when planning is how you are going to get to your destination.

Places around the city will be laying on lavish bashes, firework displays will be popping off in different locations including several iconic places, including Burj Khalifa and Palm Jumeirah.

Ahead of December 31, it has been shared that Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard will be closed from approximately 6pm onwards.

Have a reservation in the vicinity for NYE? Then you will have to arrive ahead of this time.

If you are planning to park at Dubai Mall to get close to Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Fountain then be aware that parking will be available until capacity is reached.

Since this could be at any time, it will be best to get there as early as possible as once the road is closed, no further admittance will be available. Yikes.

Planning on getting a cab? Taxis will be in operation as normal before road closures take place, but will not be able to access Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard once the road closures have been implemented.

For when you want to get home after, it is expected that the road closures will re-open between 1am-2am on Sunday January 1.

Cars parked at hotels, residences, and outlets within Downtown Dubai and Dubai Mall parking will be able to leave once the Dubai Police and RTA decide the roads can re-open.

It isn’t just road closures to be aware of as Dubai Mall Metro Station could close anytime between 2-10pm.

There is an 8-hour window as it will be depending on the capacity at Dubai Mall and once capacity is reached, the station will close.

Set on seeing the Burj Khalifa and The Dubai Fountain on NYE? Then you’ll want to check out venues to watch the NYE Burj Khalifa fireworks from in Dubai.

Heading to The Palm Jumeirah? Then you will be pleased to know that The Palm Monorail will be open later than usual until 3am.

We expect more travel updates as NYE gets closer and make sure to stay tuned to Time Out Dubai for updates.
