Lionel Messi has ordered a luxury catamaran being built in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, adding a new vessel to his MiM Ocean fleet based in the Balearic Islands.

The Argentine football star has selected the Sunreef ULTIMA 88, a luxury motor catamaran currently under construction at the manufacturer’s UAE shipyard, according to specialist yachting industry reports.

Sunreef Yachts confirmed the order through its official Instagram account, announcing that Messi had joined its customer base.

The company stated: “It’s official: Leo Messi joins the House of Sunreef.” It added that the football star had ordered an ULTIMA 88, describing the vessel as a yacht selected to match his style, personality and passion for perfection.

Messi said the decision to order the yacht reflected his family’s enjoyment of spending time at sea. “It’s a real pleasure to join the Sunreef family. My family and I have always loved spending time at sea whenever we get the chance,” he said.

“Sunreef Yachts have the style and features I really like, and they’re a perfect fit for what I’m looking for. I’m really looking forward to experiencing the ULTIMA 88 and enjoying it with my family.”

The Sunreef announcement confirmed that the yacht would join the MiM Ocean fleet in the Balearic Islands, where it would offer guests an exclusive experience at sea.

According to specialist publications Marine Business and SuperYacht Times, Messi’s new yacht will feature four guest cabins and a full-beam owner’s suite.

The layout is designed to provide private accommodation for family and guests, alongside substantial indoor and outdoor leisure areas.

A central feature will be Sunreef’s Ocean Lounge, a waterside relaxation area designed to provide access to the sea for swimming and watersports.

The yacht will also feature a dedicated Jet Ski garage, expansive outdoor lounging areas and a flybridge offering additional space for leisure and exercise. The vessel is reported to be powered by twin 1,000-horsepower engines.

Sunreef’s ULTIMA 88 range is designed to combine the living space associated with luxury catamarans with the performance and manoeuvrability of motor yachts.

The precise interior finishes and complete technical specifications of Messi’s customised vessel have not been publicly confirmed.

Sunreef has been expanding its manufacturing operations in Ras Al Khaimah as it increases production of luxury yachts in the UAE.

Arabian Business previously reported that the manufacturer planned to expand its UAE workforce to 2,000 employees as it scaled up production capacity.

The expansion reflects the growing role of Ras Al Khaimah in Sunreef’s international yacht manufacturing operations.
