Dubai’s trophy cabinet is rather full; the city recently came in the top 5 most picturesque cities around the world at Christmas, landed a top spot in Resonance’s best cities list and was crowned the number one destination for expats in November.
And the buzzing spot is not done yet with it now coming in second in the world’s top city destinations for 2023, according to an annual report by Euromonitor.
The list ranks cities around the world on factors such as tourism, sustainability, economic growth, and safety (so, we’re not surprised that Dubai landed a spot).
The French capital of Paris was the only destination to beat Dubai in the ranking and the UAE location is the only Middle East spot in the top 20.
Several popular European destinations made the top ten including London, Rome, Madrid and Amsterdam. Only one spot in the USA made the top 20: Los Angeles.
Here’s the top 20 list:
1. Paris, France
2. Dubai, United Arab Emirates
3. Madrid, Spain
4. Tokyo, Japan
5. Amsterdam, the Netherlands
6. Berlin, Germany
7. Rome, Italy
8. New York, United States
9. Barcelona, Spain
10. London, United Kingdom
11. Singapore
12. Munich, Germany
13. Milan, Italy
14. Seoul, South Korea
15. Dublin, Ireland
16. Osaka, Japan
17. Hong Kong

This latest win adds to Dubai being ranked the best city in the world for its grand innovations, inimitable world records and amazing entertainment options in 2021.
This year, Dubai also made it to the list of super safe places to live. It was joined by several UAE cities with Ajman coming in fourth and Sharjah placing fifth.
