The UAE Central Bank has celebrated International Youth Day in a novel way this year.
To celebrate the occasion of International Youth Day, a commemorative coin has been issued to highlight the youth’s active contribution to life in the UAE.
The coin is a symbol of how youths across the country support the UAE’s journey towards a sustainable future.
The Central Bank of the UAE has created a silver coin to mark International Youth Day, which falls annually on August 12.
It has been designed to recognise the pivotal role played by the youth across the UAE in shaping the future direction of the country.
The commemorative coin weighs 60 grams, and its front face includes a portrait of the UAE Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.
May God rest his soul, along with an excerpt from one of his immortal poems, “O the Youth of the Builder, Take the Initiative and Make Efforts”.
Al Nahyan was a firm believer in the power of youth, and he was committed to the empowerment of younger generations, urging them to take initiative, work and participate in building the nation.
His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Dhaheri, Assistant Governor of the Central Bank for Banking Operations and Support Services, said that this issuance embodies the UAE’s appreciation for its youth.
“This comes from the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, who believed in their capabilities and made them partners in the process of construction and development.”
He highlighted how the coin is a further demonstration of the Central Bank’s role in consolidating national identity, in a bid to enhance awareness of the role of youth in supporting economic and financial stability and effectively contribute to achieving the country’s aspirations for the future.
The Central Bank will later announce the date of the coin’s launch, and the mechanism for obtaining it through its website and social media channels.
