The collision of two vessels in the Sea of Oman, which occurred 24 nautical miles off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, was caused by a navigational error made by one of the crews, the UAE Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure reported.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 01:30 local time. The tanker ADALYNN, flying the flag of Antigua and Barbuda, and the cargo ship Front Eagle, flying the flag of the Republic of Liberia, collided.
As a result of the incident, both vessels received minor damage to the hull. A small oil leak and a fire in the fuel compartment of one of the vessels were also recorded. Thanks to the prompt actions of the relevant services, the fire was quickly extinguished. There were no casualties among the crew members.
A technical investigation has been launched into the incident in cooperation with international organizations, in compliance with the principles of transparency and in accordance with international safety standards.
The department noted the coordinated actions of the rescue units and the high efficiency of their work. The 24-member crew of the tanker ADALYNN was successfully evacuated. They were safely transported to the port of Khor Fakkan by the National Guard Coast Guard boats and other competent authorities.
The Ministry confirmed that it continues to monitor and assess the situation to ensure the safety of navigation. The high degree of interdepartmental coordination and the constant readiness of the competent services to respond to emergency situations were separately emphasized.
