When it comes to sightseeing, there is stiff competition for places to see around the globe.

Tourists often have bucket lists of iconic buildings in popular locations they want to tick off their to-visit lists and, when it comes to the number one spot to see, it’s here in Dubai.

You guessed it right, Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building, has scooped up the top title as the world’s most popular bucket list landmark.

Price comparison website Comparethemarket gathered data to find out which landmark is number one.

How? The clever clogs in the data gathering department put together a list of 72 of the world’s most popular landmarks, then looked at the number of Instagram hashtags and global monthly Google search volume for each to reveal the top 10 bucket list landmarks around the world.

Burj Khalifa came in first place as the building has the highest average global search volume at 2,240,000 per month, as well as 6,179,975 Instagram images under the hashtag #burjkhalifa.

While Burj Khalifa is the most searched-for landmark, the Eiffel Tower is the most Instagrammed with 7,192,685 images using the hashtag #eiffeltower and an average of 1.5 million people also searching for the French landmark each month.

Third place has been awarded to New York City’s Times Square and Canada’s Niagara Falls won fourth place followed by India’s Taj Mahal.
