Set for completion in 2029, the line will span 30km and be made up of 14 stations across nine key districts in the emirate.
And now, following a foundation stone laying ceremony, details have been revealed for an “iconic” station on the Dubai Metro Blue Line.
Standing at 74 metres tall and 38 metres wide, the stunning station will be the world’s tallest metro station and be called Emaar Properties Station for the first 10 years of operations.
The 11,000 square metre space is designed to handle up to 160,000 passengers, with more than 70,000 expected to use it daily once it is operational.
Property developer Emaar, best known as the group behind the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Mall, has secured the naming rights of the landmark station.
Emaar Properties Station will serve the estimated 40,000 residents of Dubai Creek Harbour, in addition to visitors.
The naming rights will kick in for the station in the Creek starting from its official inauguration in 2029.
And, it has been revealed, that the next phase of the Dubai Metro Blue Line project will include further announcements regarding naming rights for other stations along the Blue Line.
The design of the Emaar Properties Station has been inspired by a gateway and will complement the surrounding urban landscape at Dubai Creek Harbour.
Passengers will see a towering facade that harmonises with the area’s architectural identity.
A central gateway will allow natural light to flood down to the platform level, which aims to create a bright and welcoming space throughout the day. At night, the Emaar Properties station will act as a “radiant beacon” for travellers.
Interiors will aim to create a sense of luxury for travellers with towering walls, natural textures and warm, earthy tones prominent throughout the space.
By 2040, daily ridership on the Blue Line is projected to reach 320,000 passengers. It marks the first Dubai Metro line to cross Dubai Creek on a 1,300-metre-long viaduct.
