FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar is set to bring a fire-breathing 50-tonne spider, which is featured every year at the Glastonbury Music Festival. It will offer a capacity of 15,000 per day.

The annual Glastonbury Music Festival, which runs for five days in Pilton, Somerset, England, has been previously headlined by music stars such as Beyoncé, David Bowie, Coldplay, Kanye West, Paul McCartney, Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, among others.

Officials of the World Cup have contracted Arcadia, who are the hosts of the festival to run a Qatar 2022 version, British tabloid The Sun reported.

The Qatar version will see “A-list line ups from the global stage of techno and house music,” The Sun reported, adding it will have food and alcohol options “from 10am through to 5am the next day, allowing fans to watch all four daily games in the group stage of the tournament that starts on November 20.”

Beer is said to be sold at £8 (QR32.48) per pint, however, organisers from the Gulf state are yet to confirm the pricing policy.

The immersive music festival is set to be located between Doha’s airport to the south of the city, and the England team’s base camp Souk Al-Wakrah hotel, 20 minutes from the capital centre, The Sun said.

The World Cup organisers have also set up an “official, free to enter Fan Festival, catering for thousands more supporters, in the city centre Al Bidda Park,” The Sun said, adding that the venue will also serve alcohol from 6:30pm until 1am.

In September, it was reported that Qatar will permit ticketed fans to buy alcoholic beer at World Cup soccer matches starting three hours before kickoff and for one hour after the final whistle, but not during the match.

The FIFA World Cup will be held in a Muslim-majority country for the first time, with strict controls on alcohol.

The alcoholic beer will be sold exclusively by Budweiser, a major World Cup sponsor, and will be served within the “ticketed perimeter surrounding each stadium, but not in the stadium stands or concourse,” a source told Reuters.

Budweiser will also be allowed to serve beer in part of the main FIFA fan zone in central Doha “from 6:30pm to 1:00am every day of the 29-day tournament,” which kicks off on November 20 until December 18.
