This Saturday, April 19, will be your final opportunity to witness the iconic Dubai Fountain - the world’s largest performing fountain located in Downtown Dubai, before it temporarily closes for an extensive restoration.

Earlier this year in February, master developer Emaar announced that the fountain would undergo a comprehensive upgrade and routine maintenance, with a five-month closure starting from May 2025. However, in a more recent update made in March, it was confirmed that the official closing date for visitors would be April 19.

According to Emaar, the enhancement works will commence in May and aim to elevate the experience with ‘advanced technology’, improved choreography, and an enhanced sound and lighting system to make the experience more immersive.” The restoration is expected to be completed by October.

The Dubai Fountain show takes place every evening in front of the Burj Khalifa and can be viewed from Dubai Mall. Situated in the Burj Lake at the base of Dubai Mall, the powerful jets of the fountain are spread across an area the length of two football pitches. The show features up to 22,000 gallons of water soaring as high as 140 metres into the air at any given moment.

Evening shows are held every 30 minutes from 6pm to 11pm daily. For a limited time, afternoon performances are also available at 1pm and 1:30pm from Saturday to Thursday, and at 2pm and 2.30pm on Fridays.

Visitors can get even closer to the action via the Dubai Fountain Boardwalk, located at the base of the Burj Khalifa. This 272-metre floating platform allows spectators to stroll just nine metres away from the spectacular water display.

While the fountain undergoes its transformation, the surrounding areas—including other key attractions in Downtown Dubai—will remain open to residents and tourists alike. Created by Emaar in 2005 and opened to the public in 2009, the Dubai Fountain was designed by Wet Design, the same team behind the renowned Bellagio Fountains in Las Vegas.
