Abu Dhabi hotel general managers, event organisers and tourism professionals have been reminded they must report all event data to the government, including anything to do with the sale of alcohol.
In a recent circular detailing the process to secure an event license, the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) said: “The data and attachments submitted to the events licensing system are essential for obtaining approval at the specified time. Accordingly, it is necessary to ensure that the correct data is entered: event title – the organizer – the date and time of the event – the attachments – the classification of the event – speakers and artists – number of attendees and performers and the event agenda is attached, showing all the details and activities of the event, including the serving of alcohol.”
The process to secure an event license, and how to properly manage and promote events, is detailed in the 20-point circular.
There are also new rules for externally arranged events in Dubai hotels that want to serve alcohol.
As of February 15, any corporate or private events will require a mandatory CID alcohol permit, according to Arabian Business.
The CID permit will be applied for by the hotel on behalf of the event organiser.
The AED1,250 fee (per day) should then be passed on to the client.
Organisers must apply for the CID permit at least 14 days in advance, says the circular.
